Virden, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A 16 year-old teen died after a farm implement accident in Macoupin County.

The teen was identified as Nolan C. Kiel from Virden, Illinois. He was the operator of the farm implement when the accident occurred on Virden Road on Aug. 12.

Macoupin County Coroner Anthony Kravanya pronounced Kiel dead at 11:56 a.m. after arriving to the scene.

Virden fire and police departments, Prairieland ambulance service, Girard Fire Department, Auburn Fire Department and Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident.

Preliminary findings from an autopsy done on Aug. 13 suggest asphyxiation as Kiel’s cause of death.

The death is under investigation by the Macoupin Sheriff’s Department and Macoupin County Coroner’s Office.
