Both MARTA and Atlanta police are searching for a suspect accused of shooting a man in the abdomen at a station Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The gunfire erupted at about 1:45 p.m. during a fight between two men in the bus loop at the Hamilton E. Holmes station in northwest Atlanta, according to MARTA spokesperson Stephany Fisher.

Fisher said one of the men shot the other. The victim was found quickly by a MARTA police officer patrolling the station and taken to the hospital.

Police have not identified the suspect or the victim. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

“Service was impacted briefly, and all bus and rail service at the station is operating normally at this time,” Fisher said.
