LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A mother is dead after a shooting happened at a bus stop in Louisville. One local group has been working for years out at bus stops to deter violence and prevent shootings, but they need more volunteers.

The organization, Men Against Gun Violence, stands guard at bus stops deterring violence and working to build relationships with students to build them up.

It was started by Kamal Wells who said he knows why it’s so important. Especially after two shootings at a JCPS bus stop within days, the most recent turning deadly .

“It was the worst day of my life.” Sherita Smith said.

Smith’s son, Tyree was just 14-year-old when he was shot and killed at a JCPS bus stop, an innocent bystander. Two others were injured in the shooting.
