LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department has announced the arrest of a second teenager in connection with last week’s gunfire in front of children on the first day of school.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near 10th Street and Chestnut Street just after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7. Witnesses described the incident as a shootout between two individuals.

One of the suspects was captured on surveillance footage, which combined with several tips, led to detectives arresting a 15-year-old on Saturday, August 9.

On Wednesday, August 13, LMPD announced the arrest of a second 15-year-old in connection with the shooting. The suspect is being charged with 33 counts of wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a minor, second offense.
