WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - You’ll find out on Thursday if your National Grid bill will be going up 20 percent over the next 3 years.
The state Public Service Commission is scheduled to vote on the utility’s request to raise gas and electric rates .
The rate hike would increase a typical household’s electric and gas bill by $22 a month starting in September.
By year 3, that bill could be $50 more a month than what it is today.
National Grid officials have said the increase is to cover inflation-driven cost increases, pay for infrastructure upgrades, and provide discounts to low-income customers.
The PSC meets in Albany on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
