POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) -- Tuesday's wrestling practice at the old Union Elementary School in Poland was met with a swarm of unexpected guests.

"There was an infestation of them [yellow jackets] in a specific closet, so we isolated it there, and then obviously we had to get out," said Poland Schools Superintendent Craig Hockenberry. "It was a pretty dangerous situation, so we are glad that we caught it."

While the school works to manage the yellow jacket problem, administrators have banned outside groups, including local police departments that use the building for training.

Hockenberry said that the call for a professional to handle it was prompt after discovering the issue.

No outside groups or practices will be held in the school until further notice.
