ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Firefighters do a lot to keep our community safe, sometimes at their own expense. We saw that yesterday, after two multi-alarm fires.
Yesterday, the Rochester Fire Department responded to the first fire, a four-alarm, on Dewey Avenue at around noon. Then, at around 2 PM, they responded to a fire on West Ave, which was upgraded to a three-alarm because of the extremely hot weather, to provide more manpower so exhausted firefighters could recover.
"When we're at a multiple alarm, that takes several hours. So, we still had people operating at the first incident while the second incident was coming through," said Lt. Jackie Sierra from the RFD.
