ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WROC) - James Cook's contract extension makes him the fifth Buffalo Bill to sign a four-year deal this offseason.

He joins Christian Benford, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard and Khalil Shakir who are all set to stay with the Bills through the 2029 season.

General manager Brandon Beane called this group the "new core." After today's practice, the group explained the responsibility that goes with each of their foundational roles.

"It just shows the level of commitment from the organization, and in turn, that has to come from us now, too," Bernard said. "Having that security in the future that we know we're going to be here is a great feeling. Honestly, it puts more responsibility on us to lead and to lead this team the right way."
