The Vacaville City Council heard another update from staff on Development Impact Fees on Tuesday evening, specifically regarding the calculation of those fees. Staff walked the council through the process that will be used later this year to update the city’s fees, about which local developers have already expressed frustration.

Fee calculation starts by identifying relevant policies and plans through which fee policies could be created, then identifies capital improvements and develops total improvement cost estimates. Then, fees are allocated to developers based on the existing need and the increase created by development, staff explained.
