The Manitoba Wildfire Service is reporting low fire danger across most of the province, with moderate risk in some southern and central areas, and a mix of moderate to high danger in the northwest.

Evacuation orders have recently been lifted for Cormorant, Kistiganwacheeng (Garden Hill Anisininew Nation), Island Lake (Stevenson Island) and Little Grand Rapids. Residents began returning home on Aug. 11 and 12.

A provincial state of emergency remains in place until Aug. 22 under the Emergency Measures Act, with 2025 now marking Manitoba’s worst wildfire season in 30 years. More than 1.75 million hectares have burned to date.

As of the latest update, there are 161 active wildfires, bringing the total this year to 413, above the average of 320 for this time of year. Burn
