WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — All evacuations have been dropped for the Central Ferry Fire burning in Whitman County, according to DNR.
Level 2 (Get Set!) evacuations were in place for the Central Ferry Fire are for the following areas: Central Ferry, North to Dusty, Highway 26 at Dusty to Wilcox and South to Almota.
Fire Marshals say the fire is burning about 6,597 acres as of 8 a.m. Friday, August 15. Fire officials say the fire started around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The fire is also 40% contained as of Friday morning.
Washington State Patrol says a car fire started the wildfire. City of Pullman says Highway 127 was closed in both directions between Dusty/State Route 26 and the Snake River. The highway has since reopened.
