Four bodies have been recovered from a river in San Joaquin County after a solo-vehicle crash earlier this month, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to CHP, the crash happened at 3:59 a.m. on Aug. 4 when 20-year-old Julio Corraltitlan was driving a Dodge Charger northbound on Rindge Road and veered off the roadway, crashing into an embankment covered in boulders and rocks. The Dodge then crashed into the White Slough and was completely submerged in water.

Fire crews responded to the scene and found Corraltitlan in the driver seat area of the vehicle and another person in the rear passenger seat area, CHP said. Both were transported to San Joaquin General Hospital and later pronounced deceased.
