GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Just days after a flag was stolen from St. John's Episcopal Church in Grand Haven, it's been returned, along with an apology and a donation to the church for its ministry.

St John's Episcopal Church sits right on the main drag in Grand Haven, Washington Ave., and Reverend Jared Cramer said this wasn't the first time someone has taken their flag.

“We had one that was stolen a couple years ago that was a much more violent act [where] someone physically tore it off the pole,” Father Cramer said. "[We] never found that person, never got it back.”

As for the more recent theft, Cramer said the woman's boyfriend had reached out to tell him she had been drunk after being at a nearby bar. She expressed remorse and planned to return the flag.
