A minor tropical disturbance that was east of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula on Wednesday morning and expected to cross into the southwestern Gulf later in the day may bring much needed rain to the Rio Grande Valley.
That’s according to Bianca Garcia, lead meteorologist with the National Weather Service Brownsville/RGV station, who said the tropical wave had a low chance, about 10%, of developing in the next 48 hours and was expected to make landfall along Mexico’s coast on Friday, when rain chances are highest during the coming weather episode.
Chances of development over the next seven days are only slightly higher at 20%, according to NWS, which said the disturbance is poised to deliver precipitation to the Valley whether the wave develops or not. Rain chances are expected to stick around
