OKLAHOMA CITY — OSSAA board members on Wednesday upheld a decision to strip four Glencoe basketball players of their eligibility for violating a rule that penalizes student-athletes for following coaches or trainers to other schools.
Some parents cried when the board voted 12-0 to deny the appeal by Glencoe Public Schools, whose superintendent and attorney denied any violation of Rule 24, known to many as the “Link Rule.”
Students who violate the rule have been required to sit out one year before gaining athletic eligibility. One of the players in question would be eligible to play baseball.
