MERRIAM, Kan. (KCTV) - A Johnson County police department’s dive team was needed early Wednesday morning to help complete a burglary investigation.
The Merriam Police Department said officers were called to reports of multiple people burglarizing and attempting to steal cars from a local business during the midnight shift late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.
Coordination with law enforcement from Mission, Overland Park, Shawnee, Prairie Village, Roeland Park, Fairway and Lenexa police departments resulted in four suspects being taken into custody.
“During the arrests, at least one suspect tried to destroy critical evidence by discarding it in a nearby retention pond,” the Merriam Police Department said Wednesday.
