WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco man who assaulted his former girlfriend, rammed her car with a truck and threatened to kill her and a man who helped her during the 2023 altercation was sentenced to two life prison terms Wednesday.
Jurors in Waco’s 19th State District Court deliberated just nine minutes before heeding prosecutors’ pleas to recommend life prison terms for 65-year-old Sampson Walter Graves.
Jurors took about 30 minutes to convict Graves on two enhanced counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon before learning in the punishment phase that Graves served 20 years of a 25-year term for killing the toddler son of a former girlfriend in 1993.
Prosecutors Kristi DeCluitt and Kristen Duron told the jury that life in prison was the only appropriate punishment for Graves, who th
