ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis City leaders, along with the Sierra Club, gathered outside of the Ameren headquarters near downtown St. Louis on Tuesday for the chance to convince Ameren’s CEO to keep a disconnect moratorium that ended on Aug. 5.
The group asked Ameren to keep the moratorium until the end of the year. According to the Sierra Club, some people are behind on utilities by $160. Board of Aldermen President Megan Green said that if Ameren doesn’t make a change she will look to make one with the backing of aldermen.
Ameren told First Alert 4 that they are deeply aware of the challenges, especially for tornado victims, but stressed that resources are available. The utility company works with partners, including the Urban League, Cool Down St. Louis and the United Way
