ARGYLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Local animal rescues are always looking for a helping hand – and one rescue got a big hand, from a big name.
It was a lucky day for Lucky Puppy Rescue. The nonprofit transports unwanted litters, their mothers, and orphaned dogs from southern shelters to Argyle, so the dogs can be adopted in the Capital Region.
"We never leave one behind in a shelter," said Lucky Puppy Rescue's Jayme Dill, who transports the dogs. "We do a lot with orphaned dogs, bottle feeding around the clock care and help vet, fully vaccinate, spay and neuter all our dogs and puppies prior to adoption."
But the bus that made this possible was breaking down.
"I don't believe that we would have been able to continue," she said. "Not at the rate we're going and how many animals are in need in th
