COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Colonie Police Department held a kickball game on Wednesday with kids in the community. Officials said it was designed to get youth interacting with law enforcement, so they can build bonds for the future.
Officials said building a relationship with kids while they are still young is important to the department.
"It helps the kids because we're all officers that are out here, and it allows for them to see us out of uniform and create friendly experiences, so that if they do see us when we're in uniform, or if they ever have to call the police in the future, it's a friendly face that they've met before in a different capacity than our usual job," Colonie Police Community Service Sgt. Michael Clough said.
