ALTAMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) – On Wednesday sudden rain came to the Altamont Fair forcing everyone to take cover. The military appreciation ceremony was also on Wednesday. Organizers of the event had it planned to be in the Hometown Hero's building. There were plans to have half of the event outside to make it flow nicely as well. Due to the serve downpour that took place before the ceremony started they had to move it to the Dutch barn to still give these veterans the ceremony they were hoping for.

Tim Hagerott, Navy Veteran and a member of both the Altamont VFW and American Legion who also had the honor of leading the event said, “Normally, we do it outside and in the open air.
