DICKINSON — Sen. John Hoeven stopped in Dickinson on Tuesday with U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz to meet with local leaders and grazing associations about land management and access issues.

The meetings were part of Hoeven’s tour through North Dakota during the Senate’s August recess, which also included stops in Fargo to discuss affordable housing and in Grand Forks for roundtable talks with local law enforcement and small-business owners.

Attendees in Dickinson included Mayor Scott Decker, Billings County State’s Attorney Pat Weir and representatives from grazing associations including Little Missouri, McKenzie County, Medora and Sheyenne Valley.

Topics ranged from road closures and grazing access to tensions between local and federal control, as well as prairie dog encroachmen
