LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The Nevada Air National Guard has been deployed to assist in western wildfires.

The Nevada Air National Guard’s 152nd Airlift Wing started operations Saturday from Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. The wing was activated to support wildfire response across the western U.S., such as the Great Basin, Rocky Mountains, and Southern California.

“So far, crews have dropped 13,900 gallons of retardant on Colorado’s Crosho Fire,” The Nevada Air National Guard Base said. “One of only three Air National Guard units with this capability, the 152nd is working alongside the Air Force Reserve’s 302nd Airlift Wing under the direction of the National Interagency Fire Center.”
