KENNEWICK, Wash. - A 29-year-old man was arrested after police received a report of a man pointing a gun at a woman, Kennewick Police said in a release .

Officers responded to a 911 call of a possible shot fired in the 2100 block of W 4th Ave on August 12.

Police contained the area of a local business where the suspect reportedly hid. They said the suspect discarded the gun over a fence and attempted to flee.

The suspect, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked into Benton County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He also faces misdemeanor charges for obstructing a public servant and resisting arrest.

Police said they recovered the gun. They said there was no evidence that the gun was fired.
