PENDLETON, Ore. – The Pendleton Police Department responded to an isolated incident that prompted local schools and businesses to enact secure and lockdown procedures on the city’s South Hill this morning.

One person was taken into custody, security measures were lifted and there is no ongoing threat to public safety, Pendleton Police said in a release .

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Jensen with the Pendleton School District highlighted the swift response from staff, saying, "Our amazing staff acted swiftly and calmly to keep students safe while continuing instruction without interruption."

Jensen expressed gratitude to families and the community for their patience and trust during the situation.
