NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — Back-to-school is coming up quickly for a lot of families, and there are a lot of things that parents need to remember.

One of the most important things that Dr. Akua Amponsah Chrappah, MD, and Dr. Caroline C. Weingart, MD, say parents should focus on is nutrition, and that goes along with any allergies kids may have.

The biggest part of nutrition is to focus on the five food groups: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, and protein. Parents should also be mindful about what their kids will actually eat that is nutrient-dense rather than processed, so that refrigerated foods don't come back home warm.
