GRAND FORKS — Sgt. Kevin Kallinen's agency number was retired during a Wednesday, Aug. 13, ceremony celebrating his retirement from the Grand Forks Police Department, where he served a little more than 45 years on patrol.

Kallinen's number, 405, was used by someone else before he began working with the agency and, typically, the number would continue to be recycled after his retirement.

"But in recognition of what has been a legendary career, and one that I doubt we'll see repeated — and at the suggestion of a colleague — there will be no more 405s," Police Chief Jason Freedman said.
