A fire that broke out Tuesday at the Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort in Nawilili caused an estimated $150,000 in damage.
The Kauai Fire Department responded to the fire at the resort shortly before 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, with personnel from the Lihue, Kalaheo and Kapaa fire stations, and the on-duty battalion chief.
Upon arrival about five minutes later, firefighters found smoke coming from the resort’s laundry room and successfully extinguished it. The scene was cleared shortly before 12:15 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
KFD said the fire originated from the resort’s laundry room. The case has been classified as accidental.
