Honolulu firefighters rescued a woman in distress at Spitting Caves on Tuesday night.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a call just before 7 p.m. for a woman in her 30s who had jumped into water at Spitting Caves at Portlock, but was unable to get back to shore on her own.

Two firefighters jumped in and swam to the woman about 100 yards from shore as the rescue boat made its way to pick her up. She was brought safely back to shore, where medical care was transferred to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

It was the second Spitting Caves rescue after sundown within three days.

On Sunday, HFD received a 911 call at 7:09 p.m. for a man in his 30s in distress at Spitting Caves.

The man was reportedly swept off the rocks and unable to swim back to shore. A good Samaritan threw him
