MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Governor Tony Evers announced on Wednesday that he has requested the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help the state in conducting a formal federal damage assessment after storms and flooding last weekend.
The Wisconsin Emergency Management reported to Gov. Evers the initial state and local damage reviews suggests the state will meet the federal threshold to receive federal aid and help.
If this request is accepted, it will allow the state to receive a formal presidential disaster declaration and federal disaster relief.
A presidential disaster declaration determines which type of federal assistance will be provided.
