SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) -It’s that time of year again — buttery, golden, and oh-so-sweet! In Sun Prairie this week the corn is hot, the crowds are hungry, and the tradition runs deep.

For 72 years, the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce has been putting on one of the best food festivals in the Midwest.

The Sweet Corn Festival runs now through Aug. 17 from Angell Park in Sun Prairie.

Each year, as you can imagine, the featured food is 80 tons of Wisconsin-grown sweet corn served with butter and sprinkled with salt to your liking.

Named one of the best food festivals in the Midwest, the Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival is always held the third full weekend in August.

All for a good cause, area non-profit organizations share in the proceeds.

Steamed corn is only sold on Saturday and Sunday
