A recent candidate for grand chief in the Council of Yukon First Nations elections has opted to represent Riverdale in the upcoming territorial elections that have yet to be called.

The Yukon Party announced in a press release that Rose Sellars is seeking the Yukon Party nomination in Riverdale North. That seat is currently held by Yukon Liberal Party MLA Nils Clarke, who announced he won’t run for a third term as member of the legislature.

In 2016, Sellars sought the Liberal nomination for Copperbelt South.

Sellars grew up in the Yukon, according to the release. She is married, has a daughter and is a member of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. Her political history includes 12 years sitting on the First Nations general council. She also has managerial experience at four levels of go
