WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A Mexican citizen has been charged after illegally re-entering the U.S. following a prison sentence.
The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said that 28-year-old Saul Castillo-Crespo was convicted in August of 2017 for kidnapping and sexually abusing an intoxicated stranger in Northwest D.C. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
The USAO said that several years later, in March of 2025, Castillo-Crespo re-entered the country illegally. He failed to register as a sex offender, violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested him on June 27 and charged him with unlawful entry and destroying property. At the time of his arrest, Castillo-Crespo identified himself as "David Cr
