WASHINGTON — Taylor Swift's new era officially begins October 3.

The pop superstar revealed the album cover and release date for "The Life of a Showgirl," her 12th studio album, Wednesday evening to coincide with an appearance on the New Heights podcast , hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.

On the podcast, Swift shared details about the new album and recounted her journey to eventually purchasing her master recordings, including rerecording several albums in an attempt to own her own music.

"I thought about not owning my music every day," Swift said. She teared up telling the story of learning the deal had been accepted.
