HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A public pool in Hanford, The Plunge, is closing for the remainder of the season for what the city said on Wednesday was "unforeseen mechanical issues."
The city previously planned to keep The Plunge open through Sept. 28, but with the approach of the new school year, the city says the pool would transition to weekends-only beginning in a few days.
Now, the city announced Wednesday that "unforeseen mechanical issues," along with an extended timeline for repairs and safety considerations, have been the reason for the pool's closure before time.
The city reports the pool experienced a "very successful and safe summer,' attracting more than 13,000 visits, 252 youth swim lesson participants, 266 water aerobics participants, and more than 80 lap swimmers, accord
