ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Many Georgia Power customers have voiced concerns online about high power bills for the month of July, which the company says was the state’s hottest since 2016.
Clayton County resident Khadijah Works received a $1,223 bill for that month, though her total was a little over $1,500 because she still owed $306 for a previous bill.
“How am I going to pay it? With inflation, the food, things like that, everything went up,” Works said.
She used a little over 5,000 kWh for July, which wasn’t much more than she used the previous month, though that bill was only about $500. Works said that is her average as a FlatBill payment and now that she is no longer part of that program, she is shocked at how much the bill is.
