COLUMBIA — Traffic shifted Wednesday in the U.S. 63 work zone in Columbia after Missouri Department of Transportation crews completed a new bridge north of Broadway and finished rehabilitating a bridge over Interstate 70.

Head-to-head traffic moved from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes between Broadway (south of I-70) and Vandiver Drive (north of I-70). This shift allows construction crews to begin rehabilitation work on the southbound U.S. 63 overpass bridge over I-70.

Officials say the head-to-head traffic on U.S. 63 will probably go on for about 45 more days, but there's still a long road ahead to complete U.S. 63 renovations.
