A 2-year-old girl drowned Wednesday morning after wandering away from her home near the Gravois Arm at Lake of the Ozarks, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the child was reported missing around 10:30 a.m. and was later found face-up in the Gravois Arm of the lake at the 10.2-mile marker.

The child was transported by Mid-Mo Ambulance District to Lake Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:36 p.m., according to an incident report.

Authorities said the drowning marks Troop F’s first fatality of August and sixth fatality of 2025.
