CHICAGO ― The Tigers’ beleaguered bullpen is getting another cast member.
Sawyer Gipson-Long, a right-hander, was activated off the injured list before Wednesday’s series finale against the Chicago White Sox, and threw two innings of scoreless baseball in relief of Troy Melton, who went the first five innings of the two-hit, 1-0 shutout.

One of those relievers was right-hander Codi Heuer, who was demoted to Toledo to make room for Gipson-Long. Gipson-Long is stretched out to between 60 and 75 pitches, so he gives manager AJ Hinch another multi-inning option for now.
