NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Town of North Attleborough is warning residents to be vigilant amid an increase in coyote activity throughout the town.

According to the Town of North Attleborough, sightings have increased, specifically in the Amvet school area.

Residents are advised to be aware of their surroundings and to keep an eye on small children, dogs, and cats.

The Town of North Attleborough provided the following tips to prevent conflict with coyotes:

Remove outdoor feeding sources around the yard

Keep all trash bins secured and/or indoors

Make sure there are no coyotes in the area before taking a pet outside

Illuminate your yard if you take a pet out at night

Keep dogs leashed and supervised when outside

Keep cats indoors or in a secure outdoor enclosure
