FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The sprinkler system in the Gabriel House assisted living facility had sprinklers that were recalled decades ago, but were never replaced according to our Boston affiliate, WCVB.

Sources told WCVB that the sprinkler in the room where the fire started never released any water into the room.

The recall involved sprinklers made by Central Sprinkler Company.

There were two recalls, in 1998 and in 2001, but it’s unclear which brand was installed in Gabriel House at the time.

Investigators have released two potential causes for the deadly fire on July 13th.

Those are improper disposal of smoking materials and an oxygen tank.
