DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A home health care worker is facing multiple charges after deputies said she was accused of forging checks and taking medication from her patient.
According to the Durham County Sheriff's Office, Victoria Lowry, 33, was arrested on Tuesday at her home in Red Springs following "an investigation into fraudulent activity targeting a Durham woman."
Deputies said in mid-July, the patient's daughter contacted the sheriff's office to report several missing checks from her mother's checkbook.
The daughter told deputies she found that three checks had been cashed, and the payee was a former in-home caregiver, identified as Lowry, who worked for Lilies of Hope Health Agency based in Lumberton.
