MARICOPA, AZ (AZFamily) — It was a scary experience for dozens of elementary school students on Wednesday afternoon when their bus got involved in a crash on a freeway near Maricopa.
It happened around 4:45 p.m. on state Route 347 near Miller Road, which is about 8 miles south of Maricopa.
Officials said the bus from Stanfield Elementary School District was carrying about 30 kids. Several of them had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, district administrators said.
Aerial video of the scene showed a red pickup truck with front-end damage and a small SUV with damage to the passenger’s side.
The Department of Public Safety didn’t release the conditions of the other drivers.
Troopers said no one was impaired. It’s unclear what led up to the crash.
