PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) -- ACCT Philly rescued approximately 45 hens and roosters living inside a Philadelphia row home on Wednesday.
According to reports, the rescue follows a narcotics raid at the Kensington home on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the animal welfare organization, there were clear signs of cockfighting, including several "dressed" roosters that were prepared for fighting.
"We’re not law enforcement and can’t speak to any charges, but we hope this case is taken seriously by the federal authorities," ACCT Philly said in a Facebook post. "Animal fighting is both illegal and harmful, and we’re glad these birds are now safe with us."
