COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An overnight commercial kitchen fire has been knocked down, thanks to Black Forest and Monument firefighters.

Black Forest Fire Rescue said crews responded to the area of Allen Ranch Road, just near the Flying Horse Golf Course, around 2:37 a.m. on August 1 and saw smoke coming from a window of the building.

Crews said they forced entry into the building and found fire in the kitchen area. They said the fire was knocked down using a water extinguisher, and a fan was used to ventilate the smoke from the building.

Crews say an investigation from the Pikes Peak Fire Regional Investigation Unit revealed the fire started from behind a sandwich prep refrigerator prep table, where the compressor, fan motor and electrical were located.
