A Nottinghamshire criminal went under the radar for five years before being caught and dealt with for tending to a £100,000 cannabis farm. Derby Crown Court heard how Tomas Jasmontas was caught tending to the grow in Essex in 2020 but it was not until a chance police visit to his now Mansfield Woodhouse home in March of this year that he was found.

In the intervening years, the 34-year-old failed to turn up for court appearances and was rumoured to have returned for some of that period to his home country of Lithuania.

Jailing him for 33 weeks, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “Much has been said about how old this offence is, it goes back to April 2020, over five years ago.
