WASHINGTON — Residents of the District of Columbia are taking to the streets in protest, joined by demonstrators from Maryland and Virginia, as the federal government continues its controversial takeover of the D.C. Police Department.
This comes as President Donald Trump, now in his second term, suggests extending federal control beyond the initial 30-day period authorized under the Home Rule Act.
