BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The team behind a potential redevelopment of the Raising Cane’s River Center is giving the public its first look at what the project could become.

Hunden Partners, a Chicago-based firm advising on the project, presented a recommendation this week that would transform the River Center into a modern event venue with a 350-room hotel.

The proposal calls for a 29,000-square-foot ballroom, new meeting rooms, and a flexible hall that could serve as a concert venue.

“We want to repurpose it. We want to keep it alive. It’s in an ideal location. We just have to invest in it,” Cleve Dunn, Jr., EBR Metro Councilman said.

Supporters say the project could create 200 jobs and generate millions, though a cost estimate for the project has not been released.
