(NewsNation) — Imagine you're the mother of a daughter who was fatally shot, and you watch her accused killer let out of jail to attend a funeral for their family member?
Alacia Ford-Barron knows. Ford-Barron's daughter, Myrah Zeigler, was allegedly killed by 19-year-old Larry Smith. Smith was granted temporary release by a judge for the funeral of his father, much to the dismay of Ford-Barron and the Florida State Attorney's Office.
Ford-Barron told "Banfield" on Wednesday that she feels the decision was a "slap in my face."
"For this young man to take my daughter's life and just freely walk out of jail to be able to hug his mother, to be able to hug his family, to be able to sit in his bed, to be able to breathe the air that my daughter would not be able to breathe."
