An updated severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 6:54 p.m. in effect until 7:15 p.m. for Chester and Delaware counties.
Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
"At 6:54 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Landenberg, or 7 miles north of Newark, moving east at 25 mph," according to the weather service. "Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible."
Locations impacted by the warning include Wilmington, Newark, Elsmere, Kennett Square, New Castle, Oxford, Parkesburg, West Grove, Delaware City, Newport, Homeville, Glen Roy, Cochranville, Stanton, North Star, Bear, Talleyville, Wilmington Manor, Elam and Mount Vernon.
